East Adams Rural Health (“EARH”) is committed to our patients, their treatment, and their families—as well as protecting the privacy and security of their personal information as well as our employees.
On or about September 12, 2024, EARH was alerted to anomalous activity within our network. Upon learning of the issue, EARH contained the affected systems and conducted an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident with assistance from third party cybersecurity experts.
As part of the investigation, EARH engaged leading third-party cybersecurity professionals experienced in handling these incidents. The investigation aimed to determine the extent of the activity and whether individual personal and health information, if any, may have been accessed or acquired by an unauthorized party. At this time, EARH investigation into the incident and what specific information was impacted is ongoing; however, information on the impacted systems may include individual names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, medical information and health insurance information.
While we have no indication that there has been any fraud as a result of this incident, EARH reminds its employees and clients to remain vigilant in reviewing financial account statements on a regular basis for any fraudulent activity. EARH also recommends that its clients review the explanation of benefits statements that they receive from their health insurance providers and follow up on any items not recognized.
As a team of dedicated and caring professionals, EARH understands the importance of safeguarding individual personal information. EARH remains fully committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information in our possession, and upon learning of the event EARH took immediate action to protect the individual personal information it maintains. EARH continually evaluates and modifies its practices to enhance the security and privacy of personal information in our possession.
